Hello and welcome to Ash Class!
We are a mixture of year two and three and our class teacher is Miss Stoneman. We are also very lucky to have Ms Foulds and Mrs Vincent helping us with our learning each week. We have a lot of fun in Ash Class; please keep checking our page to see new and exciting photos of our learning!
Weekly spellings and times table tests are given out on a Monday and tested on a Friday. Homework, usually math based, is given out on a Friday afternoon to be handed in the following Wednesday.PE is taught on a Tuesday morning with Mrs Matchett and again on a Thursday afternoon by Miss Stoneman so please remember to have PE kits in school. Children should have a pair of wellies in school for forest school learning in our Wild Area.
This term our topic is Eco-Warriors (Click here), inspired by our victory at our learning communities Eco-Champions competition when Ash Class took home the coveted Hedgehog Trophy! The challenge really inspired the children last year, some amazing learning took place and so we have based this short term around this year’s challenge which has a water theme. This topic will direct a lot of our geography and science learning, but it provides some lovely writing opportunities too. We have some special visitors coming in over the next term to support our learning and lots of hands on and sometimes wet activities to get stuck into! On this page you will find a topic map with an overview of all the curriculum areas and what will be covered.
This week, as part of their topic work, Ash Class have been creating their own news reports to inform the world about the problem with plastic pollution. First, the children worked collaboratively to research the issue on the internet, designed their own backdrops and then wrote their own scripts in the correct format. They had a lot of fun playing the parts of news anchors and I am really impressed with how hard they have worked to create some really informative and enjoyable pieces of drama. I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I did and learn something you didn’t know before! Enjoy!
