Our Learning
In the Sow, Grow and Farm project, we will learn about allotments in the United Kingdom and how the government encouraged people to have them to support food rationing during the Second World War. We will learn about food webs and animal life cycles, including how living things are dependent on one another within a habitat. We will investigate the different ways that plants reproduce and will dissect flowering plants to identify the different structures. There will be opportunities to learn about farming in the United Kingdom and the techniques used in modern farming, including the challenges that farmers face. We will learn the benefits of eating seasonally and about the pros and cons of importing food and we will also learn about world farming and how the different climate zones affect where different foods can be grown.
Remote Learning
If your child needs to self-isolate, individually or as a whole class, the school office will email home their home learning on a weekly basis. If you have any questions or queries, please contact the office and your class teacher will be in contact with you. How to access Google classroom

Home Learning
Each child should read for 30-40 minutes a day and complete at least 3 short and one long reading journal entries a week. They should complete at least one Read Theory quiz a week.
English and Maths home learning is set each week to practise skills taught in class and weekly spellings that teach spelling rules and patterns.

The children will learn to pronounce cognate and other sports accurately from text, applying their phonics knowledge.  They practise using a bi-lingual dictionary to look up unknown words.  They describe sports, using simple sentences with 'je fais' ,‘je joue’, 'c'est' and 'il y a ' for their peers to guess.  They learn how to say which sports they like/dislike doing, using the verb ‘aimer' + infinitive verb .
